The Ship of Bipartisan Down there at the dock, Youll see a tall wooden ship It holds two parties platforms, hundred years without a slip. They say they cant see eye to eye or agree on the basic facts. But they would surely come together if anyone was attacked. It be something about biotech, Of a widespread cellphone breach, Could be a technology no one controls, or oil on a public beach. If we see the problem together, though our visions may be set, the parties will pass the needed rule to stop the common threat. Can we all extend a handshake, when the right leader calls out loud? Behind the three mast tall ship, the founders would be proud. It is a very important topic. And when I refer to bipartisanship - it's more than just a compromise, It is really more like teamwork. It is really an effort in the long term. We have to be able to see beyond the day to day. As James Longstreet said - today is a present, yesterday's gone, the reward of tomorrow, is where our hearts belong. |
